Julie Hughes
After obtaining her Marketing degree from Danville Community College, Julie began her career as a sales associate/assistant buyer at Belk Leggett in Danville. After taking a break to be a stay at home Mom, her next career path took her to Danville Public Schools where she was a Food Service Manager for 20 years. In 2004, after her children graduated from college, Julie decided it was time to explore a career that had always intrigued her, so she studied to become a Realtor. Obtaining her license in 2005, she became affiliated with Wilkins & Co. Realtors. As you can see, customer service has been vital to all of Julie's career choices.
During her years as a Realtor she has been inducted into the Dan River Region Honor Society every year. She is very proud of this recognition because it not only honors Realtors for their real estate accomplishments, but also for their community involvement. Julie is a proponent of God's Storehouse and the excellent work it does in our area.
She served on the Dan River Region Association of Realtors Board of Directors for many years and in 2016 served as President. In January 2017, she was named 2016 Realtor of the year for the Dan River Region.
Besides her family, selling real estate is Julie's greatest joy. She loves meeting and getting to know people. She loves helping someone buy their first home, or their first home in this region. She also enjoys working with sellers. Helping people move on to the next phase of their life is very rewarding, whether it's moving up to a bigger home, or moving on to bigger and better opportunities.
A country girl at heart, Julie also enjoys selling farm land. Horse or cattle farms, hunting hideaways, or timberland, it doesn't matter, it's about being outdoors and being with others that appreciate the wide open spaces as much as she does.
Julie also enjoys helping and encouraging new Realtors so they can become successful in their chosen profession. To that end Julie was named Director of Realtor Training for Wilkins & Co. Realtors in March 2024. She was very honored to be offered this position, which she takes very seriously.
Julie has also enhanced her Real Estate education by completing 96 additional hours of Realtor education and becoming a Graduate of the Realtor Institute. In January 2024, she was certified to become a Real Estate Instructor for Mosely Flint.
Outside of real estate, Julie leads a very full life. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Lynn and they reside in the Brosville community. They have two daughters, a grandson, and a granddaughter that they are extremely proud of.
